300 employees were sent home and told to find new jobs days before Christmas after a ransomware attack hit a telemarketing firm.

The company's servers were compromised and held ransom. The company was forced to pay the cybercriminals to get their systems up and running. Data recovery efforts unfortunately failed and the company was forced to suspend business operations.

There are many cases where business operations has to cease or shutdown due to a cyber incident.

This is a tragic incident that could have been avoided. Having a dedicated resource would have likely prevented the ransomware but for sure it would have had the proper disaster recovery and business continuity process and procedures in place to handle this.
